Product Description
Buncom is an abandoned mining town located at the confluence of the Little Applegate River and Sterling River, approximately 20 miles southwest of Medford. The town was first settled by Chinese miners in 1851 when gold was first discovered in Sterling Creek. Minerals such as cinnabar, chromite and silver were also mined in the area. A general store was built in 1861 and a Mr. J.T. Williams opened a saloon in the same year. Later after a Mining District was established in 1867 but it would not be until 1996 when a post office would be set up in the community. The town was abandoned in 1918 after the gold was gone and most of the buildings would later burn down. However, three buildings remain in this little ghost town, a cookhouse, bunkhouse and post office. When I completed a paranormal investigation in this tiny town in July of 2010 the spirits came out and surrounded my team. We captured EVPs and interacted with a spirit via the EMF detector.
